There are stone piles like this all over the park. I’ve always assumed that they were the result of road/trail-building efforts; usually encountering them close to trails–though not necessarily very close. The burial site theory is more interesting. Thanks for posting all these great pics and for sharing just a little bit (but not too much) of information about the locations.
