I spied this pair of trees across the Rideau Canal from my regular bus route and made a mental note to try to catch this fall display before the November rain and winds transformed this spectacle into a mere memory.
Even though it was early enough on this Saturday morning, signs of life were all around me. Walkers, some with dogs, and runners of all ages could be seen across the canal from my camera’s lens, others passing right behind me on the path. Contractors were putting extra hours in to get the job done.
And like spawning salmon fighting their final upstream battle, the dying leaves on these trees were putting on a spectacular final show for us to enjoy before we settle into the long winter months that are so familiar to Ottawans…
