We have had to make the trip from Ottawa to Huntsville for family reasons a few times now, and our route takes us along the main corridor that transects Algonquin Park.  We learned from past experience that the right equipment and an allowance for time could allow us to fully enjoy a health break during an otherwise uneventful 4 hour car ride.

The 2.3 km Peck Lake trail offers beautiful views as the trail follows the contour the lakeshore.  Our stop this past December could not have been better timed – a fresh layer of snow, cool but comfortable temperatures, and my favourite at this time of year – a clear blue sky.

The outing was completely energizing, and allowed me to come back with a good selection of images for next year’s custom Christmas card!
