Ottawa’s annual Winterlude festival offers many distractions…  From the plaza where you can observe ice sculptures, to the park where snow sculptures stand tall.

It is possible to escape the crowds, especially on a weeknight, and to skate away from the main venues.  It is particularly during the convergence of these conditions that stoic monuments have an opportunity to be seen.  Lit as it is, Ottawa’s Pretoria Bridge deserves a stage of its own, especially in winter.
